Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair on the body and face is a big issue for both men and women. Even though 90% of the time excess facial and body hair is hereditary, other factors can cause excess hair growth. Those factors include: puberty, menopause, pregnancy, certain medications, thyroid disorders, diabetes and ovarian disorders. Laser hair removal technology was introduced to the public after more than 30 years of research and clinical trials by physicians across the US and Canada.

Fair hair
Laser technology makes it possible to finally achieve a permanently hair-free body with only a few exceptions. Currently, laser technology is capable of destroying red, blonde or white hair. Electrolysis, another service offered at our clinic, is the only choice for permanent removal of light-coloured hair.
All skin types
Nd:YAG state-of-the-art laser technology is employed at Tanlicious Tan and Laser Clinic. Unlike Diode- and Alexandrite-Laser technologies, Nd:YAG laser works very well on all skin types ranging from very light to very dark skin. Nd:YAG technology allows us to work on the darkest skin without any danger of scarring the skin. This is possible because Nd:YAG laser beam selectively targets the pigment inside the hair follicle and not that of the skin cell.
Will it hurt?
There is some pain sensation associated with laser treatment. The laser pulse feels something like the snap of a rubber band on the skin. Our clinic is one of the few clinics using a Zimmer Cryo Chiller to cool the skin during treatment.
How long will it take?
One can achieve 80% to 90% hair reduction within 8 to 12 sessions with the exception of facial hair which may require additional sessions depending on certain factors. Once laser treatments have reduced facial hair by 80% to 90% we recommend our clients to switch to electrolysis to achieve 100% permanent results.Session intervals vary depending on the body part treated. As an example, facial treatments are typically spaced three to four weeks apart. Treatments to the same body area are commonly done six to eight weeks apart. The factors that determine the intervals between the sessions are:

  • Coarseness of hair
  • Hirsutism & sex
